Not Your Average Summer Camp

Stirling Harbor Foundation is proud to offer our Arcadia Sailing Programs covering a variety of themes and boat skills. These are week-long, overnight programs available to teens ages 15-18.

Come live aboard Arcadia, our famous Concordia sloop, and become part of the crew.

Programs run out of Oyster Bay, NY. Our “Maritime Memories” trip will depart from and return to Greenport, NY. The July “Legends of the Sea” trip will begin in Oyster Bay and end in Greenport.

For the 2024 season, programs cost $1,100. Scholarships and financial aid are available on a first-come, first-serve basis.

No prior sailing experience is required for any of our trips!

Sailing Basics

June 17 - 21 & August 05 - 09

A super-charged look at sailing. We’ll start each day with new information and debrief over dinner. You’ll learn about angles, lift, drag, weather, knots, and more. Students on this trip will take over at the end of the week and be captain during their watch!

Art on the Water

June 24 - 28 & August 26 - 30

If blue is your favorite color, this might be the course for you. Come see the sky and the sound change colors throughout the day, watch the landscape change slowly, and find beauty in the lines of all the boats around.

Maritime Memories

July 15 - 19

Join us for a trip to Mystic Seaport Museum in Connecticut. Underway, you’ll begin to familiarize yourself with life aboard a boat and begin learning local nautical history. A full day at Mystic Seaport includes tours of the Museum and exhibits.

Legends of the Sea

July 08 - 12 & August 19 - 23

Nautical stories are full of action and adventure: come make one of your own! We’ll talk about what makes stories about the sea so fascinating and how to write our own. Will yours be fiction or non-fiction???

Have you ever wondered what “aperture” is or how to properly frame a subject? This program is designed to grow your confidence whether you’re steering the boat or snapping a photo. We’ll play around with color, perspective, lighting, and more.
